So, I, like other blind people everywhere, I'm sure, heard about the new netflics audio description thingymahop and got all happy in my pants (didn't you?). So, I went to my apple tv picked up my Bluetooth keyboard (lost the remote ages and ages ago) went through all the steps of enabling audio descriptions and now when I go to the menu it says that audio descriptions have been selected. However, when I start playing the show, I got zilch! I should probably add here though I only watched about 5 minutes of it expecting some kind of description by then but...nothing! Does anyone have any idea why it's not coming up? Or is it just that it shows up later on in the show?
Thanks,
dan!
P.s It should also be noted that I am not the primary person on the account, however, I have my own profile on said account.
only certain shows are described. Are you sure the show you tried to watch is on the list of audio-described media? you should have description right away, by the way.
Ugh, sorry, should've been more specific! I tried watching the new daredevil show.
I'm going to asume you know what the controls are for bluetooth keyboards.
When a video is playing, you hold down the enter key until the video pauses.
Then you arrow up once, that's the subtitle menu.
What we want is the audio menu, that one is a press of the right arrow key.
When you're in the audio menu, simply arrow up and down to find english audio description.
The accessibility menu, while it works for me can be a hit and miss.
I can turn it on, but not off.
HTH
I'll try it this way and let you know how it goes! Thanks a bunch!!!
To find what shows are described, go to browse and select the shows with audio ddescription category or something like that.
So, sorry it's taken so long to get back to you. I did it that way and all I can get it to do is say "controls shown" or "controls hidden" not sure what else I can do. What I went ahead and did though is enabled it on my IPhone and that just works across the account.
How do you enable it on the iphone i was looking the other day and couldn't figure it out. Also with the apple tv you have to use the actual apple remote if you use the remote ap on the phone it won't work. hth
You have to click on language options from the actual movie or show and it'll be in there; it'll say something like...English audio description. Note: you have to be watching a show that supports it. Also if you're not running the latest update to IOS you might wanna go ahead and update, that fixed a friend of mine's issue.
